MEDIATION
Many couples facing divorce want to avoid the contentious and messy litigation that is often a part of the process but aren't sure what options are available. With the help of a Certified Mediator, negotiating the terms of a divorce can be more accessible, less costly and take significantly less time that a litigated case.
Mediation means working negotiation the terms of a divorce or custody in a non-confrontational, mutually respectful setting, with the help of a neutral third party called, creatively, a Mediator.
MINOR'S COUNSEL
Courts appoint Minor's Counsel to advocate for the best interest of the child. Minor's Counsel interviews the child, parents and other parties as needed. Minor's Counsel can relay the child's preferences to the court, without causing the child the stress of being questioned in court. Minor's Counsel investigates allegations of drug abuse, neglect, or child abuse, often collaborating with the Department of Child and Family Services so the Family Law Judge has all the pertinent information to make a well informed order regarding custody of the child.
